I had the great pleasure of seeing this film earlier today. And, as it so boldly promises, it was very funny and very entertaining. I have always leaned toward the more raunchy comedies and this movie catered right to that desire. Although it would be hard for me to say that this was as non-stop-I-can’t-breathe laughter as I experienced during The Hangover, it is definitely a huge step forward in real comedy that is carried by comediennes. I happened to see this movie with my mom who is not usually a fan of the new generation of Judd Apatow/Adam McKay comedies but she was brought to tears a few times during the film. Bottom line: very funny, very entertaining but in the end most likely/hopefully a starting point for the anti-chick flick chick comedy.
The next project that includes several of the same people (Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, and the adorable Chris O’Dowd) is the much talked about Friends With Kids. Friends With Kids will also star Adam Scott and Megan Fox. Bridesmaids has made me quite excited to see this next project, which is slated for a release sometime in 2012.
