Today’s Boy Toy - Emile Hirsch

This 25 year old proves big talent can come in small packages.
Homefront: This actor’s actor hails from Palms, California.
Known For: His powerhouse performance in 2007’s Into the Wild made the actor one of the new generation’s most respected performers. Mr. Hirsch also had a pivotal role in 2008’s Academy Award winning film Milk.
Notable Roles: Emile set the tone with 2002’s The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys. This film combined comedy, coming of age storytelling, dramatic plot twists with a splash of comic book imagery to create a truly original film about kids. The bonus here is another quality supporting role by Kieran Culkin and on top of that Jodie Foster plays a super villain nun. The 2004 porn/high school comedy The Girl Next Door is one of those special films that center around high school/high school students but does not slip into that tired and boring genre of high school comedies. And depending on your preference the bonus here is Elisha Cuthbert or Timothy Olyphant.. those of us who are extra special find joy in both. 2006’s Alpha Dog has been a staple in my favorite films ever since its release. This true crime film directed by Nick Cassavetes (who also directed The Notebook(2004)). Emile takes on an unlikely role for him of an egotistical wannabe gangster.
Up Next: The Darkest Hour, due out August 5, 2011, is about a group of youngsters trying to survive an alien invasion in Russia. This project is listed as post-production and co-stars Juno’s Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella from The Social Network. Currently filming is Killer Joe which is without a release date for the moment. This film costars Matthew McConaughey, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. This movie centers around a young man, Emile, with a debt that puts his life in danger so he sets out to kill his mother for the insurance. Lastly, there is talks about a new version of Hamlet being in the works. Right now IMDB only lists Emile in the cast and Catherine Hardwicke, director of Twilight and the upcoming Red Riding Hood, as the director.
Bonus: An “always keeps us guessing” filmography as well as a charming grin.
