The news is spreading like wild fire that Eminem is planning to make his big screen comeback in a film called Southpaw. It hasn’t been confirmed, but his second film seems to be based on a real story captured by the documentary, from 1999, of the same title, about an Irish boxer overcoming adversity and prejudice to become a boxing champion and national hero. It follows Francis Barrett, an impoverished man from a trailer park, as he trains and eventually ends up representing Ireland in the 1996 Olympics.

Obviously Em won’t be playing an Irishman, but most likely an American version of the real Francis Barrett. I’m guessing Nick Cannon won’t have a cameo.

* Just to clarify.. I meant I wasn’t sure that it was confirmed that this was based on the Francis Barrett story.. not if Eminem was cast.
